Whitefriars has a long and proud tradition of producing fine writers. Is it time for you to take your place amongst them?


Submitting your piece

Pieces can be up to 850 words where there are no images used; however, no more than 500 words where an image is included.

Pieces must be submitted in 12 point, Times New Roman. Only original images or photographs can be used.

2022 Lyn Power Literary Award Competition

The Lyn Power Literary Award was established in 2011 in recognition of Lyn Power’s outstanding teaching in the areas of English and Literature for well over 25 years.

This award is an annual award for all Senior English, English Literature, English Language and English as an Additional Language students.

Prizes

  • The Prize Winners from each year level will be published in the 2022 'Shared Stories Anthology', an anthology which showcases the writing and art of students from Catholic schools across Victoria.
  • Winners will also be invited to attend the Shared Stories Launch in November with Mr Murphy, College Principal; Mr Wight, English Learning Leader and Mr Smith, Assistant English Learning Leader.
  • These same lucky gentlemen also receive an invitation to attend a Book Week event with a visiting author.
  • As well as all of this glory, 1st, 2nd and 3rd placed writers from each year level will receive a certificate and gift voucher.
